Hi Friends , its me Raja. I Hope all are doing well.
I am new to Debian & i have installed that in my PC.But I have installed from a Live CD so i don’t have a complete information about source.list and packages in that.
well let me explain everything what i did .
I have opened terminal and typed sudo -i for root access with a mind as Ubuntu but it give up , not worked .so tried with su …yeah now i got it .its asking me for my root password and now i am as root.
so first problem i have faced in Debian is network connection , because it don’t have GUI network configuration tool.so what i have to do now ?
i need to connect the internet with ifconfig command , but i am not good at that .So i have asked my friends help for this issue.they have given me some good links and i have tried many methods but one thing is simple and super for my case .
The command I have used is simply
ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx broadcast xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
this is it.Its Done.
Now i have to install some packages in it , but what ever i am going to type nothing is with it .
here first thing we have to do is , we need to get root access with su command .2nd thing open your browser and google for Debian squeeze source list and i found many links and then i copied them to my source.list file in my /etc directory and saved .
now updated …and things are cool now . well remaining progress i will report in the next post .
Take care guys.
I hope this post can be helpful to you , when you are dealing with a Debian System .
With Best Wishes
Raja
